Congratulations to the 2026 New York League of Puerto Rican Women Scholarship Recipients!

Five Outstanding Women Scholars Recognized for Academic Excellence, Leadership, and Commitment to Community

Bronx, NY — July 2026 — The New York League of Puerto Rican Women, Inc. (NYLPRW) proudly announces the recipients of its 2026 Scholarship Awards, who will be honored during the organization's 18th Annual Scholarship Gala on Thursday, August 27, 2026, at Marina Del Rey in Throggs Neck, New York.

Continuing its longstanding commitment to educational advancement and empowerment, the New York League of Puerto Rican Women will recognize five exceptional scholars whose academic achievements, perseverance, and dedication to service exemplify the organization's mission to invest in future leaders.


2026 Scholarship Recipients

  • Kimberly Marchione – Boricua College

  • Kayla Davis – Teachers College, Columbia University

  • Damaris Esquilin – Hostos Community College

  • Karina Del Mar – Ponce Health Sciences University

  • Kimberly Lopez – Bronx Community College

These remarkable scholarship recipients will be celebrated alongside this year's distinguished honorees, representing excellence in leadership, education, public service, healthcare, law enforcement, and community advocacy.

  • Robert Cordero – Man of the Year

  • Dr. Lisette Nieves – Woman of the Year

  • Michelle Villaverde, Esq. – Public Advocate Award

  • Ingris Martinez – Community Service Award

  • Detective Joseph Ayala – Leadership Award

  • Dr. Ana Isabel García R. Reyes – Education Award

  • Fabrício A. Caro – Equity Advocate Award

  • Miguel Centeno – Public Health Award


"Education remains one of the most powerful tools for transforming lives, strengthening families, and uplifting communities," said the leadership of the New York League of Puerto Rican Women. "We are proud to celebrate these outstanding scholars and honor the achievements of leaders who have made significant contributions to the communities they serve."

For over seventeen years, NYLPRW has invested in the educational dreams of students throughout New York and Puerto Rico, awarding scholarships that help remove barriers to higher education while encouraging academic success and civic engagement. Since the program's inception, the organization has supported more than 200 scholars, embodying its guiding principle:

"Educate a Woman and You Educate a Family."

The 18th Annual Scholarship Gala will bring together community leaders, educators, elected officials, corporate partners, and supporters to celebrate scholarship, service, and the enduring impact of education.
